2 Eggs

1/2 c Shortening

1 ts Cream of tartar

1 1/2 c Flour; (1 1/2 to 2)

1/2 ts Baking soda

1/2 ts Salt

1 c Sugar

1/2 ts Vanilla

Cream shortening and sugar. Add well-beaten egg yolks. Sift flour. Measure 1/2 cup and sift with cream of tartar, salt, and baking soda. Combine with

egg mixture. Mix thoroughly. Add stiffly beaten egg whites and flavoring. Add sufficient flour to make a soft dough. Turn onto lightly floured board. Roll in sheet 1/8 inch thick. Cut with floured cutter. Place on slightly oiled baking sheet. Bake in hot oven (400 F) about 10 minutes. 50 servings. —–
