1 ts Baking powder

1 ts Baking soda

1 ts Salt

1 lg Egg

2 c Buttermilk

1 1/2 tb Lightly salted butter or

– margarine; melted 1/2 c Walnuts; chopped

3 tb Light molasses or honey

1/2 c Dark seedless raisins

Grease a 9x5x3-inch loaf pan. Heat oven to 400 degrees. Mix flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Beat egg in a large bowl. Stir in buttermilk, molasses (or honey) and butter. Stir in flour mixture. Mix in walnuts and raisins. Scrape batter into prepared pan and bake 50-60 minutes, or until bread is well browned. Remove from oven and place on a wire rack to cool. Makes 1 loaf. —–
