1/2 c Shortening

1/2 c Sugar

1/2 c Brown sugar

1/2 ts Vanilla

1 Egg

1 ts Water

1 c Flour

1/2 ts Soda

1/2 ts Salt

1 c Quick-cooking rolled oats

6 oz Semi-sweet chocolate chips

1/2 c Chopped walnuts

Thoroughly cream shortening, sugars and vanilla. Beat in egg, then 1 Tb water. Sift together flour, soda and salt; add to creamed mixture, blending well. Stir in the rolled oats, chocolate chips and walnuts. Drop by rounded teaspoons onto a greased cookie sheet about 2 inches apart. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes.
