1/2 c Packed brown sugar

1/2 c Molasses

1/4 c Lard

1 1/2 c All-purpose flour

1 ts Baking soda

1 ts Ground cinnamon

1/2 ts Ground allspice

1/2 ts Ground cloves

1/4 ts Salt

1 Beaten egg

1/2 c Raisins

In mixing bowl pour boiling water over sugar, molasses, and lard. Stir together flour, baking soda, spices, and salt; stir into molasses mixture. Add egg; beat till smooth. Stir in raisins. Pour into greased and floured 9×92-inch baking pan. Bake at 375 till done, 30 to 35 minutes.
