1 c Brown sugar, firmly packed
1/2 ts Ground cinnamon
1/4 c Butter or margaine
2 c Sifted all-purpose flour
2 ts Baking powder
1/4 ts Salt
2 tb Shortening
1 1/2 c Sugar
1 Egg
1 ts Vanilla
1 c Milk
Combine brown sugar and cinnamon; cut in butter until crumbly and well mixed. Set aside. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Cream shortening in mixer bowl. Gradually beat in sugar. Add egg an vanilla; beat well. Stir in flour mixture by hand alternately with milk, starting and ending with flour mixture. Pour into greased 8″ square pan. Sprinkle with brown mixture.
