1/2 cup butter or margarine
1/2 cup shortening
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 each egg whites — beaten slightly
1/4 cup walnuts — crushed
1/4 cup jam
Combine butter, shortening, brown sugar, flour, salt, and vanilla. Roll into 1″ balls. Roll balls in egg whites and then roll in crushed walnuts. Put finger indention in center. Fill with jam. Bake at 350 for 8-10 minutes.
