1 1/3 c Sugar

1 1/3 c Shortening

4 Eggs

2 ts Vanilla

4 c Flour

1 ts Salt

4 ts Baking powder

Cream sugar and shortening together until creamy. Add vanilla and eggs, mixing well. In a separate bowl, mix together flour, salt and baking powder. Add wet ingredients, mixing well. Place teaspoonfuls of dough on ungreased cookie sheet and bake at 350 F. for 10 – 12 minutes or until just barely browned. Let cool on cookie sheet about 1 minute and then dip top of each cookie into a bowl of sugar, coating the entire top. Place on cooling rack to cool completely. Recipe from Ruth Burlingame —–
