1 c Shortening

1 c Brown sugar, packed

1 c Granulated sugar

1 ts Salt

1 ts Vanilla extract

2 lg Eggs

1 1/2 c Flour, all-purpose

3 c Oatmeal

1 ts Baking soda

1/2 c Chopped nuts

Combine first 6 ingredients and mix well. Combine last 4 and blend into first mixture. Form into rolls and chill. Slice and bake at 375 10-15 minutes. When stored in air tight container they remain crisp. When loosely covered they are soft and chewy Pat Dwigans —–
