2 c Flour

=(sift before measuring) 1/4 ts Salt

2 ts Baking soda

1 ts Ginger

1 ts Cinnamon

1/2 ts Ground cloves

3/4 c Shortening

1 c Brown sugar; firmly packed

1/4 ts Mint extract

1 Egg

1/4 c Molasses

1/4 c Granulated sugar

Sift flour again with the salt, soda and spices. Thoroughly cream together the shortening, brown sugar and mint extract. Beat in the egg until light and fluffy. Add molasses; mix well. Mix in dry ingredients until well blended. Chill at least 2 hours. Shape into balls the size of walnuts. Roll in granulated sugar, and place 2″ apart on a greased cookie sheet. Bake in a 350` oven until crisp and
