1 1/3 c Packed brown sugar

1/2 c Shortening

1 Egg

2 c Flour

1 ts Baking soda

1 ts Ground cinnamon

1/4 ts Salt

1/4 ts Ground cloves

1/4 c Apple juice or apple cider

1 1/2 c Unpeeled apple (1 large);

-chopped 1 c Nuts; chopped

1 c Raisins

Glaze: 1 1/2 c Powdered sugar; sifted

2 tb Milk

1 tb Margarine; softened

1/4 ts Vanilla

1 ds Salt

Recipe by: Favorite Recipes from Great Midwest Cooks In a mixing bowl, beat brown sugar and shortening with an electric mixer on medium speed till well combined. Beat in egg till fluffy. In a bowl, combine flour, baking soda, cinnamon, the 1/4 teaspoon salt, and cloves. Beat into creamed mixture on low speed.. Beat in apple juice or cider. By hand, stir in apple, nuts, and raisins. Drop dough by slightly rounded tablespoons onto a greased cookie sheet. Bake in a 400 degree oven for 7 to 8 minutes or till edges are golden. Glaze: In small bowl, combine the powdered sugar, milk, butter or margarine, vanilla, and the dash salt. Stir the mixture till smooth. Spread on warm cookies. —–
