Whisk together flour, soda, salt, cinnamon, ginger, & cloves in bowl. In a large bowl, using electric mixer, cream butter & sugar. Add egg & molasses. Beat until smooth on medium speed. Add flour mixture. Beat on low until well mixed. Separate dough into 2 balls & flatten into disks. Wrap each in plastic wrap. Chill 1 hour until firm. On floured surface, roll dough out to 1/4-inch thickness. With floured gingerbread “men” cookie cutters, cut out dough. Gather scraps & roll & cut out also. Use all dough. Place on ungreased cookie sheets about 1/2 inch apart. If you want, at this time, use the raisins for eyes or other decorations. Press into dough. Bake 10 minutes until done. Do not overcook. Transfer to cool flat surface to cool. Gather all decorations & decorate the cookies. —–
