2 cups flour

3 teaspoons baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 cup sugar

3/4 teaspoon salt

1 egg

1 cup bran

2 tablespoons melted shortening

2 tablespoons melted butter

1 cup sour milk

Sift flour, baking powder, baking soda, sugar and salt in bowl. Beat egg, add sour milk and bran; stir to mix. Add melted shortening and stir into flour mixture. Place on floured board and roll to 1/2-inch thickness. Cut into rectangles 2 x 3 inches. Brush top with melted butter.
