1 cup flour — well sifted
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon vegetable shortening
1/2 cup milk
Sift flour with baking powder and salt. Cut in shortening until mixture is of corn meal consistency. Add milk; mix lightly until soft dough is formed. Drop from teaspoon into boiling stew. Cover tightly; cook without removing cover for 12 minutes.
