1 Cup brown sugar
1 Cup chocolate — shaved
1 Cup milk
1 Cup brown sugar
1/2 Cup butter
3 egg yolks
1/2 Cup milk
2 Cups flour
1 Teaspoon vanilla
2 Teaspoons baking powder
3 egg whites — whipped with salt
salt FILLING 2 Cups brown sugar
1/2 Cup butter
1/2 Cup milk
1 Teaspoon vanilla
Part 1- mix together the brown sugar, chocolate and 1 cup milk in pan. Let com e to boil, stirring until thick. Remove from heat and cool. Part II – Cream brown sugar, butter, egg yolks until very light. Add milk, fl our, vanilla, baking powder and mix. Mix this with Part 1 and then with egg whites which have been whipped with a pi nch of salt. Bake at 350 degrees .
Filling- place all filling ingredients except vanilla in pan and cook to soft ball stage. Add vanilla. Beat until cool.
