1/2 c Shortening

1 c Sugar

2 Egg yolks

1 c Milk

1 ts Vanilla

2 c Flour

1 ts Baking powder

1 ts Baking soda

1/2 ts Salt

5 tb Cocoa

** filling 1/2 c Shortening

2 Egg whites

1 pk Confectioner’s sugar

1 ts Vanilla

1 ds Salt

Recipe by: Carolyn Sullivan Cream shortening and sugar; add egg yolks. Sift dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture with milk and vanilla. Drop on greased cookie sheets by small spoonful. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. When cool, put 2 cookies together with the filling. Beat all filling ingredients until smooth. If necessary add a little water for right consistency. —–
